I build the technology of startups and companies from zero and lead it as the company grows: architecture, team, processes and delivery, with agile methods. I did it as first engineering hire at brumbrum (acquired for €80M), as co-founder and CTO at Macai (a 30-person tech organization, with three heads reporting to me while I reported to the CEO) and as tech lead at Travelware (from zero to production in 4 months, and ISO/IEC 27001 certification). On the teams I have led, new developers shipped to production within a couple of days of joining.
In the last two years I have specialized in AI-assisted development: I set up the Claude Code harness (skills, agents, hooks and rules) so that everyone on the team follows shared standards and the code stays secure and consistent with the architecture, and I clean up products built fast with AI so they can scale.
I work as fractional CTO and join startups as technical cofounder.

- brumbrum, founding engineer and employee #3: built the first technology stack from scratch, then led one of the four development teams and the infrastructure team while the company grew from 4 people to hundreds. 120 microservices serving 10M+ requests/day on about €100k/year of infrastructure. Acquired for €80M in 2022.
- Macai, co-founder and CTO, reporting to the CEO: hired and led a 30-person tech organization, with three heads for Product, AI and Engineering and a cross-functional team for each application, owning budget and roadmaps. The company reached €7M ARR in 18 months and ranked 6th in LinkedIn Top Startups Italy 2022.
- Teams: hundreds of interviews and about 50 people hired across Macai and brumbrum. I have run teams with Scrum, with Kanban and with OKRs.
- Travelware, tech lead and software architect (consulting): took travelogue.social from zero to production in 4 months on an event-driven serverless architecture, trained the developers on it, set up the Claude Code skills and agents the team uses every day to develop with AI, and led the technical side of its ISO/IEC 27001 certification.
- Veliu, senior engineer (consulting): designed the whole architecture and built, with a team of developers, the product catalog system, with a distributed web scraping pipeline and a semantic search engine on vector embeddings; moved the company’s Lovable prototypes to Claude Code with dedicated skills, a development workflow and CI, so that non-technical colleagues could test new product ideas on their own, and one of them became the company’s main product.
- Levels, consulting (April 2026): reviewed the technical architecture of the Milan startup behind Operatore Sicurezza (AI document verification for construction sites), trained the team on best practices for complex architectures and helped them choose the right technologies and fix the weak spots.
- 5 products shipped from zero to production: the Gruppo Cegalin platform, brumbrum, Macai, file.dentist and travelogue.social. Founder of file.dentist, a SaaS for dentists and dental labs that I designed and built end to end.
- AWS Summit speaker: “Serverless Data Lake Architecture” (AWS Summit Online 2021) and “Real-time Data Processing and ML-driven Decision Making” (AWS Summit Milano 2022).

Travelware · Tech Lead & Software Architect, consulting (Mar 2026 - Present)
Tech lead and software architect, as a consultant, for Travelware, an innovative startup and benefit company building travelogue.social, a platform for regenerative tourism that connects local communities, institutions and visitors. Took the platform from zero to production in 4 months and designed its software architecture: an event-sourced, event-driven serverless system on AWS with Go services on Lambda and EventBridge, CQRS read models, real-time WebSocket push and infrastructure as code with SST. The architecture includes a GIS map system that serves PostGIS data as vector tiles to an embeddable MapLibre widget. Trained the in-house developers on the architecture. Set up the AI development workflow the team uses every day: Claude Code skills, specialized agents and hooks that let the team develop with AI efficiently and consistently with the architecture. Led the technical work that brought the company to ISO/IEC 27001 certification and took part in the certification audit.

Reviewed the technical architecture of an existing product and team at Levels, the Milan startup behind Operatore Sicurezza (AI document verification for construction sites), without a rewrite. Hands-on engineer, as a consultant, for an early-stage startup, in an international team working in English. Designed the whole architecture and built, with a team of developers, the product catalog system: a distributed web scraping pipeline (Python, asyncio) and a semantic search engine built from scratch on vector embeddings (AWS Bedrock, Qdrant) for automatic product identification and matching. Architected the backend API layer in Go with event-driven processing and concurrent pipelines. Moved the company's Lovable prototypes to Claude Code with dedicated skills, a development workflow and CI, so that non-technical colleagues could build and test new product ideas on their own; one of them became the company's main product.
file.dentist · Founder, side project (2024 - Present)
Designed and built a full-stack SaaS platform for dental professionals from scratch: a Go monolith with CQRS on AWS App Runner and Aurora DSQL, and a Vue.js 3 frontend. Secure sharing of 3D dental scans, digital prescriptions and real-time messaging between dentists and dental labs. Full ownership: product design, architecture, backend, frontend, infrastructure, deployment and marketing.
Regular Vision · Co-founder, side project (Jun 2023 - Dec 2024)
Hands-on experiments with LLMs, and a side project. Built an AI-powered platform that analyzes communication in real time, with ingestion pipelines for email, chat and tickets, an NLP layer for sentiment and impact analysis and a real-time analytics engine (Go, Python, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge). We pitched it to investors but could not find funding.
Macai · Co-founder & CTO (Nov 2021 - May 2023)
Co-founded a quick commerce startup and led its technology organization (30 people) across Product, AI and Engineering, each with its own head; reported directly to the CEO and owned the roadmaps, product included, and delivery. Owned a technology budget of about €1.9M a year: about €1.5M in salaries for 30 people, about €300k for development agencies and the external suppliers we integrated with, and about €5k a month of infrastructure, plus $100k in AWS Activate credits. Built the tech team from zero, running all the hiring and also interviewing the heads of all the other verticals of the company: across Macai and brumbrum, hundreds of interviews and about 50 people hired. Organized the people in cross-functional teams, one per application, with Kanban and OKRs; performance reviews were run by the three heads and discussed together. Designed the whole platform, met potential partners and built proofs of concept, then the teams built it: separate applications for procurement, warehouse, customers, riders, billing and support, each on its own AWS account, all built with CQRS and event-driven over EventBridge (Go, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS), with event-sourced order processing at sub-200ms p99 latency. The AI vertical handled demand management, forecasting and internal analytics, the subject of an invited talk at AWS Summit Milano 2022. In 18 months the company grew to 70 employees, 150 drivers and €7M ARR, after raising the largest pre-seed round in Italy at the time (about €2.6M, 2021); it ranked 6th in LinkedIn Top Startups Italy 2022 and won the Innovative Made in Italy category of UniCredit Start Lab 2022.
brumbrum · Founding Engineer (Feb 2016 - Nov 2021)
First engineering hire (employee #3), owning the technology budget: designed and built the first technology stack from scratch, shipped the first production system in 9 months and stayed while the company grew from 4 people to hundreds. Led one of the four software development teams (2 to 4 people, with Scrum, out of 20 developers in total) and the infrastructure team (3 people), and ran all the technical hiring. Designed the architecture, DevOps and infrastructure of a high-throughput microservices platform: 120 microservices on Docker/ECS across 23 spot instances, 10M+ requests/day with peaks of 50k req/min and infrastructure costs of about €100k/year, with $100k in credits from AWS Activate, the AWS startup program I got the company into; took the first services to production and defined the deployment and configuration standards the other teams adopted. Built all CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation with Ansible, monitoring and alerting; the platform passed a penetration test with only a few minor notes. Built the lead management software, which published brumbrum's car listings on AutoScout24 and similar portals and passed the leads from users to customer service, ran the technical side of the customer service team and rebuilt the car photo platform from scratch, making it more stable, easier to use for the internal team and faster at shooting each car. Owned all the infrastructure, in the cloud on AWS and on site across the company's many offices: networks, the Microsoft 365 tenant and a fleet of company computers managed centrally with Intune and Autopilot, each configuring itself at power-on, even when shipped to a remote employee. Ran the company's technical due diligences until 2021 and spoke at AWS Summit Online 2021; the company was acquired for €80M in 2022.
Gruppo Cegalin · Software Developer (Oct 2014 - Feb 2016)
Solo developer for a hospitality facility management group (600+ hotels, 3,000+ employees). Developed a cross-platform mobile app for real-time activity tracking, a custom Linux distribution deployed on bare-metal hardware with embedded web interface for shift management, and real-time dashboards with automated reporting. Full ownership: requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance. Zero-to-production as sole engineer.
